R. Dary Stone

Based in Cousins’ Dallas office, Dary is tasked with maintaining and growing the Company’s strategic relationships as well as sourcing new business opportunities in Texas and across the country. Dary was elevated to Vice Chairman in February 2003.

 

Prior to his current position, Dary served as President of Cousins’ Texas operations and head of Cousins Properties Services, the subsidiary that extends Cousins’ expertise in leasing, management and development to third-party investors. Under his leadership, Cousins Properties Services established a reputation for providing exceptional service to distinguished clients and partners in high profile, complex real estate projects. Cousins’ growing third-party portfolio currently stands at over 13.7 million square feet and the Company serves as Development Manager for 176 acres at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and 37 acres at the Frisco Sports Complex, both owned by Hicks Holdings. The Company plans, manages, markets and develops land at both locations.

 

Dary joined Cousins in 1999, when the Company acquired a 50 percent interest in Faison-Stone, renamed Cousins Stone L.P. After Cousins acquired the remaining interest in Cousins Stone in 2000 and 2001, Dary was named President, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Cousins Properties Incorporated. He returned to his native Texas in early 2002. Dary is an attorney and has always been active in public affairs. Before beginning his real estate career, he served as counsel to former Texas Gov. Bill Clements; Director of the Texas Office of State-Federal Relations in Washington, D.C.; and as Campaign Manager for the re-election of Gov. Clements. Dary has also served as Chairman of the Texas Finance Commission and as a regional board member of the Resolution Trust Corporation.

 

Education:J.D., Baylor University School of Law, Waco, Texas. Attended Tulane University, New Orleans and Baylor University, Waco.

 

Memberships and Civic Involvement:Dary is a member of the Board of Regents of Baylor University. He is also a member of the State Bar of Texas and currently serves as a Director of Tolleson Private Bank and is a member of The Real Estate Round Table and the World Presidents Organization. Previously, Dary served as a Director of Lone Star Bank, Baylor Medical Center Foundation, the Texas Economic Development Foundation, Cistercian Preparatory School and The Real Estate Council (of Dallas). He is a former member of the Governor’s Strategic Planning Committee, the Texas Commission on Judicial Efficiency, the North Texas Regional Transportation Task Force and Urban Land Institute.
